And George Clooney may raise 100 million dollars with Clooney’s MTV TELETHON on JAN. 22– stay tuned.
As noted on the Celebrity Pulp blog: “Tiger Woods, although he is a cheat and a liar, is still a very generous person.”

This kindred spirit blog reports that Tiger is sending out a cargo plane and mobile health clinic to Port-Au-Prince. Reportedly, Woods is considering more major aid initiatives.
But even with the best intentions, scandals can dog celebrity efforts. Some recent reports question the Yele foundation and the efficiency of other celeb-driven charities; the best bets for donations may still be UNICEF and whitehouse.gov.
Still, in a tragedy of this magnitude, even the most ephemeral stars can make a big difference with big donations. Celebrity Pulp further reports:
“The Jolie-Pitt foundation will send $1M to help out, as Ben Stiller and Tea Leoni, UNICEFambassador, plan on going on sight in the next few days….It is also possible to donate $10 to the Red Cross by texting HAITI to the number 90999.”
Good info, good intentions and a rare good use of the $$ and powers of fame.

Good for Tiger. As many great political leaders of our lifetime illustrate so well, a philandering husband can be a very very good and generous person.
I have always liked Tea Leone. I have followed her marriage to Ducovny (my husband and I watched the X files religiously). Glad to see she is involved with relief efforts (and on a more celebrity obsessed level, bought the People magazine detailing her and David’s marriage repairing cross country trip recently.)
Ducovny has one of the great faces of the 90s.

Two girls in Phoenix, Arizona sold lemonade yesterday to raise money for Haiti relief. We donated to Doctors Without Borders for the magnificent work they do. Tiger is on the road to recovery and respectability with this generous donation.

Yes, it’s all so unimaginably terrible, but it is great to see the acts of generosity it has inspired.

Hi Cosmic: My question on Haiti is why on earth all this misery is being visited upon this already-struggling land. It is Biblical and unimaginable what is happening there. I can understand ‘George Grump’ wanting to detach from the whole subject, and can understand the Haitian people attempting to escape it all in an Exodus.
Strange as it may seem, these efforts by American stars like Clooney may actually bring some relief…
