Breaking news
on LINDSAY LOHAN, who turned herself in (Good Luck, LL)& lost another lawyer & MEL GIBSON (together, right); both contending for Disgraced Celebrity of the Summer, 2010. And check out hot reviews for blog fave ZOOEY DESCHANEL as singer, paired with M. Ward as ‘She & Him’ this week in LA…
But who are the hot couples of this summer, onscreen?
We hope to heat up your computer screen soon with our online PREVIEW to Celebrities in Disgrace, which premieres at the Woods Hole Film Festival at 5PM FRIDAY AUGUST 6th and which features steamy chemistry between our stars Patrice Bunch and Julian Brand (seen chilling out on our set, above, left). Meanwhile, no one beats ToyStory3‘s scene-stealing Barbie & Ken.
What other movie couples are speeding pulsebeats this summer? Fellow bloggers and kindred spirits at Hollywood Life concocted a delicious list including Gwyneth Paltrow and Robert Downey Jr. sparring in Iron Man 2 plus Will Ferrell not believing his luck as onscreen hubby of stunning Eva Mendes (on right) in The Other Guys. Real-life lovers Drew Barrymore and Justin Long (seen going at it in a limo below) are Going the Distance.
Will Julia Roberts re-ignite her Ooomph with Javier Barden?
Does Cameron Diaz bring some Risky Business into Tom Cruise‘s cruise-control career? Can any of them compete with Barbie & Ken?
Who do you see as the breakout couples of this summer? (And keep in mind our own up and coming Duo in Disgrace, the potent double punch of Brand plus Bunch…)

EVA MENDES ROCKS
WILL F. NOT WORTH HER WHILE
Hi Anti–
Yes, Eva Mendes & anyone–
will see how Will F. fares onscreen with her–
thanks for stopping by and let us know who else floats your boat…
DIAZ MINUS CRUISE
SCARLETTE J
BOTH OF EM AT THEIR BEST IN
MY OWN PRIVATE CINEPLEXX FANTASIES CO-STARRING ME
LOL, we can all relate–
yes, with your true faves it’s always yourself who’s the hottest co-star…
the tortured twilight couple rule the summer cinema romance scene.
Yes, though many claim to hate Robert Pattison, I hear that film is hot stuff– what sounds interesting to me is how the heat comes from the couple resisting sex rather than giving in… After all, they’ve got Eternity.
Depends. Before I can make the call, I’ll need to know whether or not Ken dry humps Barbie in ToyStory 3? We’ve all been waiting a long time for them to get some genitals and a little flexibility.
Diaz and Cruise were an odd match in such a quirky foolish film. But Cruise needed to play the fool to make the American public like him again. Maybe Mel will be in ToyStory 4 to regain our love and respect…
(I wonder if “Robbie Rankin” will pick up this new Cruise character?)
HI Sheila– Yes, I too am curious to see what Barbie and Ken get up to in ToyStory3– the buzz is that they are hot together.
(Meanwhile, take a listen to a song by Stew called My Name is Ken and I Like Men…)
Cruise, yes, is best these days playing fools. I liked watching him dance with a middle-aged version of his old Risky Business moves in that strange Ben Stiller movie, the spoof of the action film whose spoofy title escapes me.
And Mel, mad mad Mel. I think he will need more than ToyStory 4 to redeem himself. He is starting to make the likes of Tom Cruise look mentally healthy. Maybe he and Lindsay Lohan will share a stretch in prison and come out better citizens.
And yes: bring on Robbie Rankin!
(New blog readers: see the awesome post Danger Zone Minus Tom Cruise by Eugenio Volpe, elsewhere on this blog…) Always good to hear from you, Sheila!
Heat, hot, spice… time to pick it up with all things increasingly Celebs in Disgrace.
Yes, and the couple with the most Heat Hot Spice, for those who’ve seen the about-to-be-premiered flick, is BRAND & BUNCH in Celebs in Disgrace…
I think the best movie couple will be Julia and Javier. Best real life couple is Javier and Penelope. It’s almost sickening how gorgeous and happy they look — but they also seem down to earth, so I’m not hating on them. I’m always ready to root for celebs who grateful about having it all. Entitlement is unattractive — I don’t care who you are. Yucka.
HI Caitlin–
A good choice and wow, I had not heard about Javier & Penelope Cruz. What gorgeous kids those 2 would have–
thanks for alerting me to that super-stellar pairing–
And yes, I wouldn’t hate them either; Cruz seems to have seen enough of the real world not to be a spoiled brat, and to BE an excellent actress…
Speaking of spoiled, I know you (like me) will be thinking Lindsay L. this AM…
Unlike all you earthlings, I truly hated TS 2, bloated and contrived. Hence, the thought of TS 3 is about as attractive to me as Aliens 3.
Nevertheless, placing Ken in the right, er, hands would reveal a strong, conflicted character, yet one confortably within the canon. Here’s Stew’s take from Joys & Concerns:
My name’s Ken and I like men
But the people at Mattell
The home that I call hell
Are somewhat bothered by my queer proclivities
In fact it’s safe to say that they
are really pissed at me.
They always stick me with Barbie
But I want them to know
I pray for GI Joe
But any able-bodied man would surely do
Just someone to love, since i am not set up to screw.
Wow, Litotes– great minds. I had remembered the title of the Ken song but love having the full lyrics.
It’s all in the writing– so give TS3 a chance. I happened to meet the screenwriter of TS3 at Nantucket Film Festival this year; he also wrote the Oscar-winning script for Little Miss Sunshine– so this may be a case where even a #3 sequel deserves a fresh look.
Plus all sorts of folks online are confessing to crying behind their 3D glasses at the end…
Always great to hear your words & lyrics of wisdom, Litotes–

I don’t know about Julia Roberts and Javier Bardem, but the hottest couple I’ve seen in years was Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem in last year’s “Vicky Cristina Barcelona”. Don’t miss seeing this masterpiece of Woody Allen. And isn’t it simply marvelous that Penelope and Javier have married recently!
Hi Barb–
I agree– Caitlin had brought that up too in her comment. Yes, those two look fabulous together; they should make more movies together and have lots of gorgeous children!
I loved Vicky Cristina Barcelona– Woody Allen’s best in years.
Litotes’ Ken poem was a hoot.
This was posted on answers.yahoo.com about the real Barbie:
If scaled into real life proportions, she would be 5 feet, 9 inches, (1.75 m) measuring 36-18-33. According to research by the University Central Hospital in Helsinki, Finland, she would lack the requisite 17 to 22 percent of body fat required to menstruate.

LOL facts about Barbie– wow, creepy to know.
And though Litotes is brilliant and a fave here on the blog, I believe the Ken poem is (as Litotes mentions) a song lyric from a great haunting rocker about ‘Ken’.
Always good to hear from you, Penny2!
PS: the singer on the Ken song, as noted by Litotes, is ‘Stew’– famous lately for his theater show Passing Strange…
Xx–
