‘JOURNALISTS’ IN DISGRACE…(& in contention for Disgraced Celebrity of Fall, 2010)
What would Walter Cronkite think? From hothead Tweet-happy Glenn Beck to hot-fingered Cook’s Source, many so-called ‘journalists’ have found themselves in hot water this fall.
Thanks to blog reader Larzini for alerting us to the Cooks Source scandal involving the allegedly uncredited reprinting of author’s recipes. Cooks may have stolen from the wrong cookie jar this time.
High Fashion hit the Low Road as MARIE CLAIRE’s online author Maura Kelly stirred backlash with over 28,000 emails denouncing her mean-spirited attack on TV’s cuddly couple ‘Mike and Molly.’ Kelly may now regret likening the likable TV stars to heroin addicts.
Speaking of Mean-Spirited: CBS has abruptly fired its Early Show anchors. But Glenn Beck takes the Disgraced ‘Journalist’ prize with his remarks about billionaire World War II survivor George Soros. Beck described Soros as a “Jewish boy helping send the Jews to the death camps.” On a lighter note, Beck repeatedly ‘joked’ in Tweets about his wife wanting to kill him and leave his ‘remains’ in Texas.

Glenn Beck is an insane and obnoxious rabble rouser. No wonder his wife wants to kill him and leave his remains in Texas.
Maura Kelly wins the prize for me, hands down. She is a flat out bigot when it comes to size. Her comments were hateful and disgusting. To make matters worse, she herself has an eating disorder, so you’d think she’d have a little empathy for others who are struggling with their appearance. But nooooooooooooooo.
Boo hiss.
Race, religion, nationality, gender, age, size — bigots for every category. Can’t we all just get along? Until that day, it’s important to call out the bigots.
So Maura Kelly, consider yourself called out. I’ve seen your picture, and you are the LAST person to be throwing any stones.

Yes, this one made my own blood boil too– I haven’t watched M & M but just seeing the ads, I am all for this refreshingly real pair. And yes, I did read that MK has had her own bouts with body image pain and you would indeed think she’d be the last to throw such stones.

I would vote for Rush Limbaugh as the most disgraceful radio journalist who just last week suggested that poor people should not vote. “If people can’t feed and clothe themselves, should they be able to vote?”
If he doesn’t qualify as a journalist, my vote for most disgraceful would be Ann Coulter. Among other despicable things she said is that if the press really thinks Obama is like Lincoln, they should treat him as Lincoln was treated. His critics compared Lincoln to an ape; they called him an illiterate baboon. She is truly the wicked witch of the Far Right!

Wow, excellent examples of Journalists in Disgrace. I had not heard of either of these recent missives and had been imagining Limbaugh and Coulter were fading away– Wishful thinking! Thanks for alerting us that these two are up to their old tricks; what awful quotes from each. How can Obama not see how truly hateful the far-righters are and stop expecting them to turn civilized and come ‘to the table’–
