Demi and Ashton-- What a Shame by IZZY

Demi and Ashton – What A Shame!  by Izzy

It finally happened, and what a shame to see another couple hit the buffers due to infidelity. Poor Demi! It should have been obvious that things were taking a nose-dive for a while. Kutcher, who seems to manage to escape the label ‘disgraced’, was a free agent when he chose to love and honor ‘till death us do part’. People point to the age gap between them but they were both mature adults.  Kutcher, even at 27. simply could not manage to stay faithful to his loving wife and partner.

Despite appearing close in personal snaps and Tweets, they had something of an air of desperation about them for me. Demi displays immaturity herself in these attention-seeking moves, keen to flaunt her intimacy with her husband. The solid marriages tend to be quiet, respectful and private affairs, not something that both participants feel the need to ram down strangers’ throats, in an effort to convince themselves as much as others about the ‘strength of their relationship’.

Desperate Demi

Rather than acting like a man and owning up to his dissatisfaction at home Kutcher has taken the coward’s way out, allowing Demi’s doubts to fester and grow. While she was looking up romantic late ski deals, he was off with his friends in another city hanging out in bars and picking up girls about the age of his step-daughter.

His antics while they were apart were reported and repeatedly denied, and he left his phone off for extended periods, allowing doubt to grow and almost seeming to invite discovery. It’s not any way to treat another human being, particularly one who had been in two previously failed marriages and is mother to three children. Kutcher’s closeness to Demi Moore’s children Rumer, Scout and Tallulah, was one of the nicest aspects of the union. One can only imagine how they must be feeling now, as the man who supposedly cared for their mother has treated her so badly.

Honesty

If Kutcher genuinely felt that he could not continue with the marriage the respectful thing to do would have been to end it, allowing both parties to part with heartache, but some dignity. The tacky sex with girls he picked up in bars was an insult, and Demi is lucky to be out of the marriage, for the sake of herself and her children. There can be no doubt, looking at her shrinking frame, that her emotional hurt is deep and real. Despite attempts to patch up the marriage with a number of ‘make or break’ holidays, even with a marriage counselor in tow, the writing was on the wall. It was left to Demi to make the announcement.

Twist In The Tale

But wait a minute! I am now reading that things have taken a completely different twist. American trash magRadar breathlessly reports that Hollywood insiders have known for some time that the couple shared an ‘open relationship’, that Moore didn’t mind his flirtations, and was also bisexual.  “Demi is attracted to women just as much as men, so she didn’t always get all she needed from Ashton,” the anonymous source adds, coyly. If it’s true, which is by no means certain, it lends a different light to Demi’s dignified statement when announcing their split, which read, “It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I have decided to end my six-year marriage to Ashton. As a woman, a mother and a wife there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life”.

Fair comment, Demi, but the lines in an open relationship are notoriously blurred, and it takes an emotionally mature couple to make it work. Are the rumors true, or are they just an early opening volley in the multi-million pound divorce settlement we are about to witness. Ugly stuff. Disgraced celebrities keep us guessing, yet again.
