IT’S MITT…by Elizabeth Searle
This is it, Mitt. After eaking out an underwhelming 8-vote victory over sweater-vested shoestring-funded Rick Santorum, Mitt finally has his big-Mo. moment in New Hampshire. Yet the GOP seems to be experiencing that Sinking Feeling which I as a longtime long-suffering Democrat know so well.
Mitt has the stiff aristocratic stand-offishness of John Kerry (without the soldier’s dignity and record of military service). He displays the robotic Unhappy Warrior campaign style of Michael Dukakis (without the endearing wry humor). And he radiates the plodding blandness of Gore or Mondale (without the impeccable Vice Presidential credentials).
Supposedly Al Gore claimed to have invented the internet. Mitt boasts that he invented Staples. Lately he’s gotten more attention for companies he helped to destroy. And he looks, as the comedians say, like the guy who just fired you. Will America look past all that and hire him?

Let me get this straight – we have a man who gutted corporations for a living, proposing to manage America like a corporation? Be very afraid.
Litotes! As always, no one says it better. I second that emotion and welcome you back to the blog where your wit has been missed. As election season fires up, I hope to be ‘very afraid’ with you more often– Elizabeth
It is painful to watch Romney trying to be sincere and one of us. Completely lacking in charisma and core principles his often dishonest statements just do not ring true. According to Ann Coulter, who describes herself as a Christian first and a mean spirited, bigoted conservative second, If Chris Christie does not run, Romney will be our candidate and we will lose. I hope she is right–I don’t think I or the country could survive 4 years of Mitt!
Hi Barb–
Always good to hear from you– and I had not heard those Ann Coulter quotes. Wow, all the rats really are fleeing the sinking GOP ship. I’m shocked and delighted that she would be so disloyal to her own party. Super news and I can only hope Ron Paul or some far-right wing-nut will run on their own and divide the GOP even further. Yes, ‘painful’ is the word to describe Mitt as he struggles to connect. I agree we can’t survive four years of Mitt and I don’t think we will have to– Cheers– Elizabeth
