NIKKI SIXX Comes To Boston by Caitlin McCarthy

Caitlin & Nikki Sixx @ BU Bookstore
I previously wrote about Nikki Sixx on this blog site (“From Bad Boy to Good Man”). Since that time, I have joined the Twitter revolution (@CaitlinMcWriter) and become one of Nikki’s followers. Upon reading that he was coming to Boston to sign copies of his latest book “This is Gonna Hurt,” and as well as the accompanying Sixx:AM CD of the same name, I sent an email to my longtime friend (and this blog’s owner) Elizabeth Searle: We are *so* there.

The book signing was scheduled to take place on May 6, 2011, from 7 p.m. to whenever at Barnes & Noble @ Boston University, the biggest bookstore in the area. And boy, did Nikki need the space. The line for his book signing started on the second floor – and eventually went all the way up to the 5th floor. My guesstimate is that one to two thousand fans were there. Nikki planned on staying until every single book was signed. That must have pushed midnight.
Thankfully, I was on the 2ndfloor. I waited four and a half hours so I could spend less than four minutes with the icon.

Fans waiting for Nikki Sixx
To put a spin on Nikki’s latest project, it *didn’t * hurt standing that long. I had a ball. Part of the fun was getting to know the other fans in line. I met Stephanie and her 15-year-old son Gianni; two schoolteachers who live one town over from me (sorry stalkers, I won’t say where, haha!); a guy who had rock star signatures, including Nikki’s, tattooed all up his arms; a lesbian couple who treasured the words of acceptance in Nikki’s books and music; and many others.
Elizabeth showed up at the bookstore after me. She wasn’t able to join me in line due to a “no cutting” policy. So she walked around the store, taking in the scene. She wound up shooting the best video of Nikki coming out of the elevator for the signing. She excitedly ran over to me in line, waving her phone: “He’s here!” (more…)
